I Have Moved – Patience Please!

Just a brief note that me and my family have moved house at the end of last week, and I haven’t got internet access right now. I am writing this post from the public library. I want you all to have patience with me until we are back on track and connected. Thanks!!!

  1. I am sure everyone will agree that we look forward to seeing you back online and posting again. But at the same time, take your time and focus on getting settled and comfy in your new home.

    1. Rick, thanks! I will have to concentrate a bit more on “housework” at the moment, until everything is back to normal. Still haven’t got internet!

    1. Maya, it was quite a nightmare over 3 days (my partner has accumulated so much stuff in his shed!!! 😉 ) but now it’s over and we are in the “better” phase of unpacking and making it exactly as we want it…

  2. Wow, sounds like you are be pretty busy right now. To move was never one of my favorites to do and still I had to go through that several times too. Now we bought a house exactly one year ago and we will not move ever again unless really something major would happen.
Anyway Petra, I wish you and your family all the best in your home and I’m looking forward to read new blog posts from you soon again.

    1. The move went well but we are still unpacking boxes and trying to settle in, still haven’t got TV or Internet or phone, – but to be honest, there is something about being at home in the evening and actually having to talk to each other rather than everybody looking at the TV or working at the computer…. 😉

      1. Yes, very true. Sometimes a little time away from technology gives us all a chance to catch up with our near and dear as well as nature too. 🙂

        Till then,

        Jean

      2. Yes, sometimes one just needs to step away from TV and phone to catch a breath with near and dear ones. It feels relaxing, refreshing and soon it’s back to work time. 😀

        Till then,

        Jean

  3. Thanks so much, Craig! Apparently moving house is one of the 5 most stressful times in one’s life (apart from birth, death, marriage and divorce, I think…)

  4. Moving to a new house can really be a stressful experience – I hope you got through it with minimal setbacks and no damage to your possessions. Have fun unpacking!

  5. Oh surely! Congratulations to you for acquiring a new home! Shifting to a new home presents a whole new set of problems. It requires patience and time to settle down. Meanwhile, your post will be awaited.

  6. Hi Petra,

We were moving about a month ago too and getting back to normal is a long process.

It was a nightmare getting the internet again from the same company.
And we just moved to a house next to the old one.

I never realized that the telecom companies haave virtually insurmountable problem transferring the service, especially when it is less than 40 yards away.

I hope that in your case things will work better and you’ll be posting on your blog in no time.

    1. Vance, I only got Internet back up a couple of days ago, so it took about 4 weeks and probably close to 6 – 7 hours of phone calls to get the problem fixed. Just to find out at the very end that they hadn’t configured the connection – that’s why it hadn’t been working. Clever, hey??? Anyway, I am back online but seem to be a bit sluggish to get back into it after such a long time “off”. Watching TV every night or going out is fun, too, instead of sitting in front of the computer! 😉

  7. Hi Petra
Hope your move goes well and is not too stressful.

What did we do before we had internet access?
Glad you managed to get a “blogging fix” at the local library.

    Where there’s a will…. LOL

  8. No post for more than one month? Do you still have no internet access? I like reading your blog from time to time.
    Greetings from Germany

    Marko

    1. Hi Marko,
I still didn’t have Internet access until 2 days ago, when Telstra discovered that they had not configured our connection. That’s after more than a month, and about 6 hours worth of worthless phone calls. Am I angry? YOU BET!

  9. Hope till today you did all the adjustment and working properly.
But as i seen your post, I think you didn’t get internet connection yet.Becoz your post not new as month May started.

  10. That’s Telstra for you. I’ve heard quite a bit about them from my other Aussie friends. They seem to be complacent about their dominant position in the market?

    Till then,

    Jean

    1. Jean, they are very complacent about their position in the market – that’s why nearly everybody who is with them (unfortunately a lot of people) is very disgruntled. We would have switched to someone else, but unfortunately we have a lot of email addresses set up through bigpond.com (which is Telstra), especially business ones, so we had to stay with them or lose all the addresses. 🙁

    1. Keith, I am back online (have to admit that I have been for about 2 weeks) but we had a lot of things go wrong lately, and I am still trying to catch up on all my office work for our business which has been pretty much neglected for since the End of March, so I have not had much time to put into updating my blogs, but I am trying to at least keep up with the comments! Thank you for being so loyal…

  11. Hi Petra
Whenever I feel like visiting other sites, yours is always among the top. I love your first book which I refer to from time to time as you have shown there how to maximise the use of wordpress. I realized that people have different ways of learning, and reading from a book is one of my favorites for gaining knowledge.
Keep up the good work Petra and hope to be back for more of your internet gems.

    1. Hi Noan, thank you so much for your kind words, – always appreciated! I am glad that you liked my book Affiliate Marketing SOS, as I really enjoyed writing it and was hoping it would help many people setting up and being successful with a WordPress blog.

  12. Hi Petra,
now some time has passed since you moved and I was wondering how you are doing and if you are feeling homey in your new home by now. I know it always takes some time to really get everything settled after a move again.
I hope you don’t mind but I would like to ask you a question.
Are you originally from Australia? I was wondering because of your name which sounds very German.
    Regards
    Paula Jo from Texas

    1. Hi Paula Jo, I am actually German (you guessed right!) but have been living in Australia since 1997.
We have finally pretty much settled in. Still heaps to do, but we are getting there!

  13. Moving is exhausting.. I know from experience. I come across families who move on daily basis. But I think it’s worth it.. and you see it after all the work is done and you can enjoy your new place!

    1. It’s actually triple storey – Garage, first floor, second floor (my office is on the second floor overlooking the ocean…) 😉

  14. Now that you are all moved in, how do you like your new place. I haven’t seen a new post from you in awhile, I guess your busy setting things up. Well good luck with your new house and I am looking forward to reading some new information from you. Until then I will have to settle for your archives.

  15. What a brilliant post. You should do a series! :)I did a sort of blogging for dummies over on one of the craft forums and I thought it was too simple for them, but the amount of emails I got asking questions just like what you addressed was unbelievable. As young
people today we have grown up with computers, but it’s easy to forget that even people just a few years older have not! Really good post! 🙂
